This week we finished up our ‘This I Believe’ video essays. Or, if you’re like me, you had to start over from scratch and finish your video within a matter of two days. Oh well. I still think it turned out okay. I was happier with my second video than I was with my first, so that’s a plus. While making my video, I learned how to pace my speech while recording so that people who are not familiar with my fast tone may comprehend what I was saying. It was a challenge, and that was the main reason I had to start over, but I think in the end I succeeded. I did speak a little rapidly at times but I think all in all I did pretty well.
My favourite part about watching everyone’s videos was listening to the heartfelt stories that everyone had to share. I know that everyone, and I among them, cringed at their own videos because they hated the sound of their voice. But even so, there was not a single video that I was in the least bit disappointed in. I had been looking forward to watching everyone’s videos since we had started creating them. My expectations were met.
Though there were four people who had the same or similar beliefs, everyone’s was different. They portrayed their beliefs in different manners and had different reasons behind them. Everyone was so personal and genuine. That’s what I love, genuineness. Because even though everyone hated recording their voice and listening to their voice and watching their own video, no one was afraid to get deep and personal. We all learned more about each other. We all showed sides of us that we were passionate or insecure about. And that’s what I loved about it.
