I like that we have started to analyze poems once again. We always find a new way to analyze them and always pick out such deep meaning in them that otherwise I would not find. Not only did we analyze a poem this week, but we analyzed two and compared them. The two poems were Poor soul, the centre of my sinful earth by William Shakespeare and Ozymandias by Percy Bysshe Shelley. Each were sonnets, which we learned more about. We learned that not only are sonnets squares, but they also typically have three quatrains and a couplet at the end and have an A - B - A - B, C - D - C - D, etc. rhyme scheme. I found this knowledge rather interesting because I am interested in poetry and would like to write a sonnet someday, maybe.
This week we also started a Shakespearean Drama Project. We all chose between the Shakespearean plays MacBeth and King Lear and split into small groups accordingly. Then we chose topics to focus our thoughts on for each play. I personally wish my group had chosen feminism because personally I am a very active feminist and find feminism to be a never ending topic with lots of knowledge and information to be discovered. But that is okay. Instead we chose philosophical which is okay. Nonetheless, I am glad that we have started a new group project because I usually like them a lot.
